How long is the season?
This will vary between Club teams and Travel team's. The first local competitions for the high school age groups are in January. Usually each high-school team will enter one to three local competitions each month through the end of March. During mid March our Elementary and Junior High season starts. The Traveling team's compete at year end tournaments in various locations of the United States. All of our Travel teams try and play the toughest schedule as possibile so they are prepared to qualify for the USAV Junior National tournament in the month's of June and July.
How many girls are on a team?
The number of girls on each team will depend on how many girls try out or sign up for each age division. Team sizes will range from 8 to 12 girls.
How much does it cost?
Eastside Volleyball Club participation fees will be determined by each area club. The cost's are driven by direct expenses.
Installment plans can be arranged with the Area Representative. The participation fees cover the expenses associated with the play and participation. The majority of these expenses are uniforms, liability insurance, coaching stipend, gym rentals, equipment, USAV/AAU Memberships, Tournaments, and communication's. We still try to run the club as a grass roots effort and attempt to keep the fee structure as low as possibile. Fee's received go directly for the operations, instruction and play. For detailed information, tentative schedule, & dynamics please conact your area representative on the try-out page. |
Important Notes:
To compete in any tryouts, auditions or practice all forms must be completely filled out including parent's signature. Most players will fit into the following age groups: 18's (12th and 11th graders), 17's (11th graders), 16's (9th and 10th graders), 15's (9th graders), 14's (8th graders), 13's (7th graders), 12's (5th and 6th graders), 10's (3rd and 4th graders), 8's (2nd and 1st grade).
What additional costs may be incurred?
The amount of additional costs will depend on number and locations of away tournaments each team participates in. Rooms, tournament entry fee's, travel expenses, etc. are not covered. The coaches lodging and travel expenses are split among the girls on the team when a team travels.
What if a Club activity conflicts with a school activity?
We feel that school activities come first. However, a player who attends a practice will get much more out of the practice than one that does not come to the practice at all, and will be rewarded as such. The higher the level of play an athlete wishes to achieve is directly related to the dedication, effort and commitment the athlete makes to the program. The Traveling teams will look for a higher level of committment and dedication.
What is the Eastside Volleyball Club?
The Eastside Volleyball Club is a grass roots organization founded to improve youth volleyball players. The Eastside Volleyball Club has established itself as a strong junior volleyball club. To maintain this reputation we will need continued hard work and innovation from athletes, coaches, parents and friends of the program. Athletes are expected to be committed to their team. The Eastside Volleyball Club is a member of the United States Junior Volleyball Association and the Amateur Athletic Union.
What teams do the girls play against?
Our Traveling teams endeavor to play against the best competition available in the Midwest. Some of our teams play teams within our club and other volleyball clubs through-out the Midwest. All teams will play in a tournament-like situation and play several matches in a day on Saturdays and/or Sundays. During the season the Traveling teams will go to out-of-town weekend tournaments to play the highest level of competition that is available.
When and where do you practice?
Eastside teams practice predominantly in the River Plex in Peoria, IL There are also expansion teams based in many communities within Northern, Central Eastern and Western Illinois. Team practices are scheduled so teams should practice at one location. Players can request to be on teams at one location or another. Those request's will be looked into, but no guarantee's are promised. Most practices are from 1 1/2 to 2 hours. The times are set by access to the gyms. Weekday practices range from 5:00 to 10:00 pm. All teams practice twice during the week, and play on the weekend. Participants can participate in the Plyocity methodology for plyometrics and will be given additional opportunities for Strength and Conditioning program's where available, and we like all of our athletes to follow a recommended diet designed by a nutrition expert.
